New primary school planned for Overstone from 2025
Following a rigorous application process, Northampton Free School Trust has been approved to open a new non-selective, state-funded primary free school within the Overstone Leys development area to the north-east of Northampton.
Overstone Park Primary School is proposed to open with just Reception learners from September 2025, subject to the required statutory approvals. It will grow by adding a Reception intake each year in line with housing growth and increased demand until reaching full capacity with learners aged 4-11 years.
A flagship state-of-the-art sustainable new build located just off the A43 bypass is planned for the school with features including a green roof, solar panels, living walls, natural light and ventilation throughout the building, and outdoor spaces including a habitat area, amphitheatre, trim trail, multi-use games area (MUGA) and large hardstanding playground.
Based on the highly successful model established by the hugely oversubscribed all-through Wootton Park School, graded ‘Outstanding’ in all inspection categories in 2019, Overstone Park Primary School’s vision is founded on strong academic achievement, developing strong values and promoting citizenship, community and service, providing a ‘foundation for growth’ where every child will thrive and prosper.

We are ambitious for our Trust and are excited by the opportunity to grow and are in the process of forming our own multi-academy trust (MAT) to run our family of schools. Our experienced pre-opening team will be led by our Chief Executive and Principal of Wootton Park School, Dan Rosser, until the appointment of a Principal Designate with the additional support of West Northamptonshire Council and the Department for Education to ensure a successful opening.
